Top 10 of 2013 is a five day, end-of-the-year blogging event that is being hosted by Fiktshun, Two Chicks on Books, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads. Each day will feature a different top ten list, starting with today's list: The Ten Best Books I've Read In 2013. Luckily for me, this list is for books read in 2013, not just those which were published in 2013. This means I have more books to choose from! Now, without further ado, here are the ten best books that I've read this year:
In case any of you are curious, my number one spot this year goes to The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick, which was utterly amazing! I'm glad that I read it before deciding to watch the film, since I really did not like the movie at all - I felt that the characters fell flat, whereas in the novel they were fantastic!
I LOVE the Under the Never Sky series! I'm reading Into the Still Blue right now and it's really good so far. Though the Ever Night almost made my list. I wish it could have been longer! Eleanor and Park too!
ReplyDeleteI know - I'm so excited for the last book to come out! Have you read the novellas? There's two: Roar & Liv and Brooke. Just to tide you over...
DeleteI really want to read Eleanor & Park, I've been seeing it everywhere for the past couple months, everyone loves those books with a passion. I was pretty shocked at how much I liked Night, it was a powerful story and I'm still trying to wrap my head around some of the scenes.
ReplyDeleteRoxy @ Story Envy
Eleanor & Park is the only Rainbow Rowell novel that I've read, but it was so amazing that I've already added all of her other books to my TBR - they all sound good, too!
DeleteNight was hard to read, but it was an amazing story. WWII interests me greatly, but it's hard not to get emotional when hearing about what people went through...
Night always makes me so emotional, it is a truly stunning read! I have both Eleanor & Park and The Mad Scientists Daughter on my shelf, I now can't wait to get to them!
ReplyDeleteEmily @ Falling For YA
They're so good! I hope you enjoy them - thanks for stopping by!
DeleteGreat list! I've picked up both Under the Never Sky and Through the Ever Night, so I'm excited to check that out soon! I'm currently reading Rose Under Fire, I know the tears are gonna show up soon haha. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten Reads of 2013
Cyn @ Bookmunchies (:
I definitely cried reading Rose Under Fire - the characters may be fictional, but there were real people who had to endure similar (or even worse) events to those described in the book
DeleteAnd I'm sure you'll enjoy the Rossi novels - they're so well-written!
Great list! The only one I've read is Eleanor & Park and I loved it :) I really want to try Matthew Quick's books, I've heard they're amazing, hopefully in 2014.
ReplyDeleteMy Top 10 of 2013 List
This was the first Matthew Quick novel I've read, but it certainly was amazing! He has one coming out next year that sounds super awesome, also (The Good Luck of Right Now).
DeleteYour list is very different than mine. Half the books on your list are new to me. Silver Linings Playbook looks very interesting. Old follower.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, TSLP was sooo good! 2013 was a good reading year for me...
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Grace! :)
